Bhumi Pednekar is a multifaceted celebrity. Known as India’s Queen of Heartland Cinema, she
is not just a versatile actor but also a trailblazer in the world of fashion and style and
is a passionate Climate Warrior. She is known for her impactful projects championing many
social causes and breaking societal norms with her work.
In 2019, Bhumi founded Climate Warrior, a platform to raise awareness and encourage
eco-friendly lifestyles. She has collaborated with climate activists on projects like
garbage segregation, rainwater harvesting, and sustainable living. Bhumi has participated in
New York Climate Week, delivered a lecture at Harvard University, and partnered with PVR to
raise awareness about climate change. Aligning with this, Bhumi launched The Bhumi
Foundation to centralise her environmental advocacy. The foundation works nationally to
address environmental issues and supports organisations dedicated to sustainability and
climate protection.
Bhumi is in her second year as UNDP India’s National Advocate for the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs). She has also been honoured as a Young Global Leader by the World
Economic Forum, recognizing her efforts in addressing global challenges. Over the next three
years, she will have access to programs that foster personal and professional growth. Bhumi
is set to attend the YGL Annual Summit in Singapore and is exploring attendance at the 2025
DAVOS summit. She's also involved in the Trillion Trees Initiative.
Bhumi Pednekar's filmography spans a diverse range of genres. Her breakthrough came with Dum
Laga Ke Haisha, a heartwarming tale of body positivity. She tackled social issues in Toilet:
Ek Prem Katha (sanitation), Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (erectile dysfunction), and Bala
(premature balding). She showcased her dramatic side in Sonchiriya, Saand Ki Aankh,
Durgamati and The Lady Killer. Comedic roles in Pati Patni Aur Woh, Dolly Kitty Aur Who
Chamakte Sitare, and Govinda Naam Mera, showcased her versatility. Her recent work includes
the thought-provoking Badhaai Do, the ensemble dramas Bheed and Raksha Bandhan, the candid
comedy Thank You For Coming, and the intense Bhakshak.
