Prath was set up in 2022 as an early-stage investments firm focused on consumer centric
businesses and their enablers. The firm has raised commitments of INR 135 crore for its
first fund and is targeting a total corpus of INR 225 crores. Prior to setting up Prath
Ventures, Harman has been investing in Indian Private markets for more than 15 years. He was
till 2021, a managing director with Multiples Private Equity, one of India’s largest
home-grown private equity firms with more than USD 3 bn Assets under management. Harman was
part of the early team at Multiples and joined the firm in 2010 when it was barely a few
months old. Harman participated and led 7 transactions during his decade-long stint with
Multiples, helping the firm make cumulative investments of over INR 2000 crores. As one of
the early team members at Multiples, Harman had the opportunity to participate and make
substantial contributions to the firm's success.
His last assignment was to lead the
consumer and allied sectors. Before his time at Multiples, Harman was part of the founding
team that set up India's first Mezzanine fund at ICICI Venture in 2007, focusing on
nurturing mid-market firms. Notable successes during this professional career have been
investments in PVR, MAS Financials, People Combine (Oakridge), Vastu Housing Finance, Arvind
Fashion and others. He has been actively engaging with the startup ecosystem as an investor
and mentor. Prior to setting up Prath, Harman made direct personal investments in
groundbreaking consumer businesses such as Believe Pte (Lafz), Mosaic wellness, Falcon-fs,
Bridge-up, Leverage Edu and Lysto. He is also a founding member of the IIMK Alumni Angel
Fund and on the advisory committee of Thapar Venture Lab, the incubation centre of Thapar
Institute, Patiala.
