Recognized as Fortune’s 40 under 40, Entrepreneur magazine’s 35 under 35, and Economic Times Prime Emerging Entrepreneur of The Year, Shivani Poddar is a goal-driven and process-oriented entrepreneur who leads by example. An alumnus of Hindu College and Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Shivani began her career as part of the leadership programme at Hindustan Unilever where she specialized in the Commercial and Supply Chain function. Post HUL, she worked with Avendus Capital as a part of the Investment Banking team. In 2012, Shivani left behind a promising career to follow her passion of building something of her own. Recognizing the lack of globally trendy fashion in the country for women, that is specific to Indian body types and aesthetics, Shivani, co-founded High Street Essentials (HSE) to make fashion accessible to every Indian woman. Today HSE operates two brands — FabAlley, a rapid fashion label for western apparel and accessories, and lndya, a distinctive line of modern Indian wear. Both brands have an inimitable style signature and are distributed online and across 500 stores in India and globally. Shivani is a strong believer of giving back to society. HSE supports 150 underprivileged kids and runs a centre for upskilling women from rural areas. With her vision, direction and business strategy that is focused on fast-track growth while building a sustainable business, HSE, has grown to become one of India’s leading omnichannel fashion houses today.
