Born and brought up in Kathmandu, Mani went to UL-Lafayette to get a degree in data science with a minor in mathematics. Mani started his entrepreneurship path in high school itself at the age of 18 and created smartphone games, utility applications, streaming services and a reselling ecommerce website. After college, he moved to India seeing the massive disruption opportunity in the consumer tech space. Back in 2014, Mani, with his co-founders, built smartican.com which was a content discovery platform for young India. The application had over 1 million monthly users. Mani was responsible for building the content recommendation engine which served content to users based on their interests using machine learning and data analytics. At The New Shop, Mani is building tech solutions to big problems retail faces each day: pilferage control, sku mix identification, seamless integration of applications, customer identification and analysis, insights etc . He with his team has built an end-to-end inventory management system which brings pilferage costs to <0.8%, a cloud based POS that costs only Rs.10k, a real-time data analytics engine for insights & trends and a mobile application for hyperlocal deliveries within 30 minutes. His passion lies in making TNS the best retail model in the world through a thorough use of data and technology. The next big thing he is excited to work on is India’s first cashierless store.
